Winter Concert and Empty Bowls

In an effort to be a multi-cultural and multi-religious family, we want to give a little blog time to the dominant holiday festivities in our country of residence. The Winter Concert coincided with the Empty Bowls fundraiser this year at school. Here are a few photos of our Santa performing with her kindergarden friends.

Staging area in the classroom, everyone has a Santa hat and a smile...

Quick posed shot in the classroom.

Action shot of "Santa Clause is Coming to Town".

For the Empty Bowls event this year, over $5,000 was raised to help buy food and other supplies for 3 Nueva Suyapa day care centers. Virtually every student in the school, as well as teaching and support staff, made a ceramic bowl that was sold to raise money for the day care centers that will provide nutritious meals and child care for the children of single mothers who would otherwise be unable to work outside of the home to support their families.

This is a news clip that our friend made last year to tell about the children who benefit from the Empty Bowls event.
