We recently traveled north and west to the mountain town of Marcala. Coffee, rivers and waterfalls. How could we go wrong?!
A couple of months ago we met two peace corps volunteers that live in Marcala. They have been there about as long as we have been in the capital. They treated us to a beautiful hike, a tour of their sweet home, a hook up to great coffee and a stroll through the market.

We shared stories of our time in Honduras and compared our experiences as North Americans working here. Although the nature of our jobs are very different, our impressions of the country are very similar. Beautiful places to travel to - Copan, the Bay Islands, Pico Bonito and the north coast. We have met some interesting characters along the way... Hondurans, North Americans and various wanderers of the world. We also shared our frustration of living in a country where many people spend their whole lives living from hand to mouth and a government that has a hard time getting it together to create a society where more people have the ability to create different kind of life for themselves. It was a great trip. Hanging out with new friends, hearing about their work in this part of the world, and some great time outdoors.
...in the meadow near the waterfall...
Some kind of bird's nest made of pine needles.
Empty bird's nest on it's maiden voyage down the river and on it's way toward the waterfall.
A stall at the market. We bought the most delicious honey here.
Baby coffee.
What an amazing waterfall!
ReplyDeleteThat Looks SuperCool!
